The most popular Croatian wine in terms of produced quantities and mass consumption is undoubtedly Graševina. However, when we talk about restaurants and quality wine, Malvasia Istriana wines have been the most sought after for years, and from red wines, Plavac mali.

Full-bodied reds are what Croatia is most known for. The climate is perfect for growing grapes that produce big wines. The most planted and the most popular variety is Plavac Mali coming from Dalmatia. Plavac Mali produces some of the most appreciated wine in Croatia when grown in traditionally best positions.

Dingač Dingač is a robust red wine from the Pelješac Peninsula. Made from the plavac mali grape variety, the flavoursome wine has an attractive dark red to purple colour. Dingač is a premium quality Croatian wine that is often reserved for special occasions.

The dark purple wines produced from Plavac mali are astringent and slightly bitter, and they have an alcohol content of 12–13.5%. Its quality is evidenced by the fact that a Plavac mali wine was the first red wine in Croatia to receive the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI), in 1961.
